Construction & Safety

On April 1st, construction companies and project owners, like LA Metro, participated in a "Safety Stand Down" to educate crews on new health and safety measures during the COVID-19 crisis. While these safety conversations have been ongoing across the state and our construction sites, the Associated General Contractors of California (AGCCA) created a unified opportunity for the industry to stop work statewide and focus on this critical safety topic. Per recommendation from the LA County Department of Public Health our crews have been practicing safe social distancing of at least 6-feet, meeting in groups less than 10, and reviewing the enhanced safety protocol such as the set up additional sanitary stations.

Construction Progress

Dear Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project area neighbors,

Over the past two months our contractor, Walsh-Shea Corridor Constructors, and all construction crew members have helped the project reach over 95% completion. Over the past couple of months we've been working on the installation of station canopy glass ceilings, installation of granite risers in stairways, placement of light coverings, ceiling panels, ceramic wall tiles, concrete flooring, welding of emergency walkway handrails, and welding of station platform end gates.

For several months a large focus of construction has been taking place underground along Crenshaw Bl. As the project nears construction completion many of the features are starting to become more and more visible as you walk past our stations or drive along our alignment.

Enjoy photos of our most recent progress! Please note that some photos were taken during February and early-March, prior to the implementation of social distancing measures.
