Additionally, transit capital projects are not subject to the state of California's Stay At Home order, therefore Metro project construction activities continue. 


15th Annual Taste of Soul Family FESTIVAL
Free, fun, and online this weekend!
 
Join the fun this weekend! The Taste of Soul Family Festival is back for its 15th year, this time online. The even hosted by Kym Whitley will be live streamed on tasteofsoul.org. The performers lineup includes DJ Mal-Ski, Deborah Joy Winans, En Vougue, MAJOR, Kim Fields, Loni Love, and Wendy Raquel Robinson. Saturday, October 17, 2020 | 6 pm - 9 pm.

In service to the community that has made the festival the success that it has been for the past 15 years, there will be a Taste of Soul Community Food Distribution (Drive Through Only). Located at the Los Angeles Sentinel at 3800 S. Crenshaw Bl from 9am to noon. 

Fernando Pullum Community Arts Center
Quality performing arts instruction to youth in South central LA
The Fernando Pullum Community Arts Center is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide quality performing arts instruction to at-risk youth and help them build self-esteem, develop civic responsibility, and achieve academic success. Their students have performed and worked with professional musicians such as John Legend and John Mayer. They are located in Leimert Park and are currently providing free online and in-person performing arts classes.

The Fernando Pullum Community Arts Center teaches the performing arts in an after school program that empowers the youth of South Los Angeles, ages 5-20, to understand their true value, impact their community as positive role models and inspire them to expand their dreams of who they can become.

The Pullum Center is currently providing socially-distanced in-person classes in addition to online Zoom classes, including masterclasses with artists such as Wynton Marsalis, Herbie Hancock and Jackson Browne.

The Sammiche Shoppe was recently highlighted in ads on Metro's A Line, along with other Eat Shop Play Crenshaw businesses through the #Powerthecomeback program, which seeks to help small businesses across the country get back on their feet by providing free advertising. This local Inglewood favorite has also been selected as an LA Rams certified #RamsHouse. In addition to the businesses receiving Rams support, customers can benefit from specials after every Rams win! 

They are now offering a vegan version of their signature Lucy Mae air fried chicken sammiche. All the deliciousness of fried chicken with no added salt or grease.
